The former UKIP leader insisted that he previously warned the world about a war in Russia, claiming, “I stood up in the European parliament in 2014 and I said: ‘There will be a war in Ukraine.’”
Giving Putin a “Reason”
Farage said, “It was obvious to me that the ever-eastward expansion of Nato and the European Union was giving this man (Putin) a reason.”
Farage’s Previous Putin Comments
This isn’t the first time Farage has made contentious comments about the Russian leader, previously saying he admired how Putin managed to stay in power for so long.

Farage claimed, “How many years has he been in power? He’s gone from prime minister, to president, he’s a clever political operator.”

Farage also made controversial comments about Adolf Hitler, calling him “hypnotic” when asked about his views on the instigator of World War 2.

Farage’s comments are similar to former US President Donald Trump, whom Farage greatly admires.

The comments also come shortly after Farage took a break from campaigning in the general election to attend a fundraiser for the former President.

The fundraiser was held in London and attended by Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr, while Farage’s attendance strengthened his support for the presidential candidate.

Many reports claimed that Farage wasn’t taking the election campaign seriously, although a spokesperson for Reform refuted those suggestions.

Farage made a shocking double announcement just before the election campaign began, catapulting the party into headline news.

Farage revealed that he would not only be running in the general election, but he would be taking over from Richard Tice as Reform leader.
