The Secretary of Health and Social Care is not playing Mr Nice Guy and has permitted the NHS to turn unruly, abusive people away without helping them.
No Racists Allowed
The Secretary of State of Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting, has issued a strict warning that “abuse” and “racism” towards NHS Staff is not tolerated. His warning also allows the NHS to turn those people away without medical treatment.
Risking Harm to Others
Streeting’s statement comes after reports about two Philipino nurses working at the NHS risked being injured as “thugs” threw their taxi with rocks.
Heading to Work Only to Be Attacked
The nurses were said to start “emergency cover shifts” and were headed out to the hospital with their taxi before they got attacked with rocks thrown at it.
The Chaos Is Mindless
Streeting visited the Leeds Cancer Centre and expressed his concerns about the treatment of the staff. He also spoke of the “mindless thuggery” that’s gone rampant in the streets of England.
Shameful and a Disgrace
The Health Secretary said that the individuals who attacked those nurses have brought “shame” upon the UK “flag” and the country,” according to Mirror.”
Grateful for the NHS
In his speech, Streeting said that “everyone owes the NHS gratitude at some point in their lives.” He mentioned that he was very grateful for the NHS and the staff who had helped him during his cancer treatment. Still, the staff is not appreciated and is instead abused.
The Abuse Is Appalling
The State Secretary of Health said that he was appalled by the level of thuggery and racism occurring in Sunderland and directed towards foreign NHS staff.
NHS Staff Are Afraid to Go to Work
Amanda Pritchard, the NHS Chief Executive, has also expressed concern for the NHS Sunderland staff. Pritchard said that the violence in the streets has put fear in medical workers, and they are scared to come to work.
Understaffed and More Stress for NHS Workers
Not only does the fear of coming to work due to street violence leave the NHS further understaffed, but it just adds more baggage to the already ladened issues surrounding the NHS and the way the former conservative party allegedly left it.
Rioting and Unrest
The Mirror reported on riots in Sunderland and the police having to cope with the distress and unrest in the area.
Putting a Foot Down
The State Secretary of Health and Social Care has made it clear that he “will not tolerate under any circumstances… that social care staff and health staff in any health care setting to be subjected to intimidation.
“Zero Tolerance” Policy
He further said that there is “zero tolerance” for violent and racial behaviour. The NHS has formally granted permission to turn such unruly and racist, intimidating people away.
Travelling Is Dangerous
Medical staff were also advised to travel in groups or take routes that don’t have the unrest carrying on. The Mirror reported that doctors, nurses, and all other medical staff were cautioned to “remain vigilant.”
Urging for the Mindless Thuggery to Stop
According to the Mirror, the health secretary also noted that the UK government would not allow “mindless thuggery” to continue on the streets. He mentioned the uptick in violence, including riots by the public, specifically the “far-right agitators,” he said.
Worried About Safety
It’s alleged that the far-right “defunct” English Defence League has been the “instigators” of the violence. Nursing Times has reported that fellow medical staff are showcasing their concern for the safety of the nurses within the NHS.
A Word From the Matron
The Senior Matron at the NHS, Louie Horne, had said that the nurses from the attacks had confirmed they were afraid to come to work. She mentioned in a statement that “we stand united in advocating for the safety, respect and dignity of our colleagues.”
The Hostility Must Stop
The matron also noted in her statement that that the NHS condemns the hostility and racism towards the medical staff. She said that the NHS staff play a critical role in helping “provide essential medical care.”
They Must Learn From What They Do
She further added that the nurses have continued to show “resilience” and “commitment” and “shouldn’t have to face such intimidation,” Horne said. She appealed to the UK government to make sure that those attacking the nurses were dealt with and “pays a heavy price.”
Practice Caution
Migrant healthcare workers must take extra care while travelling in a car or on foot as the extremist lefts are causing piles of damage to the state and more.
