The Prime Minister’s response to a racist and violent rant from one of its donors towards Diane Abbott has revealed that he accepts his apology, despite the sinister comments made.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has spoken out against comments made by a Tory donor about Labour’s Diane Abbott, labelling them as “racist and wrong.”
Abbott Frightened For Life
Diane Abbott, the first black woman in the UK to become a Member of Parliament, expressed her fright after being racially abused by a Tory donor back in 2019.
Sunak Accepts Apology
Rishi Sunak’s spokesperson has come out with a statement on the matter, slamming the donor’s comments but accepting his apology.
Hester Becomes Largest Tory Donor
Frank Hester has become the Conservative Party’s largest donor, with the Party accepting £10 million in donations in the last year alone.
Hester Makes Array of Discriminatory Comments
In a meeting back in 2019, it was recently revealed that Hester made sexist comments towards an unnamed executive and racist comments towards Diane Abbott.
Hester’s Racially Aggravated Comments
Hester claimed that Abbott made him “want to hate all black women” when he saw her on a TV screen, resulting in many urging the Conservatives to cut ties with the man.
Hester Incites Violence Against Abbott
Hester also insisted that Diane Abbott “Should be shot” instead of just sacked, along with calling her “stupid” and inciting violence against the former Labour MP.
Tories Urged to Return Money
Despite the £10 million donations, the Tory Party has been urged to give the money back due to his inflammatory comments about Diane Abbott’s skin colour.
“Deeply Disturbing” Comments
Members of the Labour Party, including MP Anneliese Dodds, have spoken out against the comments made by Hester, calling them “Deeply disturbing.”
Urging Tories to Return Money
Dodds demanded that the Conservatives return every penny of the money, insisting, “Anything less than returning the money will be a stain on the Conservative Party.”
Abbott “Vulnerable” To Attacks
Abbott has since come out with a statement, claiming that the comments were “frightening” and admitting she is “vulnerable” to attacks as a result.
Accepting Remorse Shown
The Prime Minister’s spokesperson said that, although the comments were “racist and wrong,” Hester “has now rightly apologised for the offence caused and where remorse is shown it should be accepted.”
Using Cabinet Diversity as an Excuse
The statement used the government’s “ethnically diverse” cabinet to show that although the Party will still accept the donations, it can not be deemed as racist by critics.
Sunak as First British-Asian PM
The statement insisted, “The Prime Minister is clear there is no place for racism in public life,” citing “the first British-Asian Prime Minister leading one of the most ethnically diverse Cabinets in our history.”
Hester’s Apology
Hester’s apology came years after the incident when it was revealed to the public, where he insisted he was “deeply” sorry for his actions and condemned racism.
Tory Donor Comments “Nothing to Do With” Skin Colour
Although the Tory donor specifically mentioned Abbott’s skin colour and gender in the abusive comments, he insisted that the comments had “nothing to do with her gender nor colour of skin”.
Conservatives Face Pressure
The Conservatives have been under pressure recently for their response to former Tory MP Lee Anderson, now representing Reform UK, after making “Islamophobic” comments to the Mayor of London.
Tory MPs Make Controversial Comments
Both Anderson and former Home Secretary Suella Braverman have recently made comments suggesting that “Islamists” were in “control” of the country in the last few weeks.
Refraining From Labelling Comments “Islamophobic”
Both the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister, Oliver Dowden, refused to call either of the pair’s comments “Islamophobic” although did call them “wrong.”
Government Willing to Accept Racism
The response from the government will no doubt be deemed not enough by members of the Labour Party, showing that the Conservatives are willing to accept any form of racism so long as the offender makes an apology afterwards.
