The Conservative Party has been hit with a surprise blow ahead of the general election campaign, as two candidates in two constituencies have withdrawn.

After months of waiting for a general election to be announced, two Conservative candidates have decided to withdraw from the race just minutes before the deadline.
Conservative Blow in Hemel Hempstead
Hemel Hempstead’s Conservative candidate, Jaymey McIvor, made the surprise announcement at the same time as another member of the Prime Minister’s ranks.
McIvor’s Alleged Reasoning
McIvor posted on his social media that he dropped out for “personal reasons” although previous reports suggest something more.
Tory Candidate Allegedly Suspended
PA Media reports suggested that the former Tory candidate for the constituency in Hertfordshire was suspended after an investigation.
A Concerning Case
The Tories admitted a new constituency candidate, Andrew Williams, but it’s the second Tory dropout that has concerned members of the public.
Spen Valley’s Controversial Former Candidate
The other candidate, Adam Gregg, the Conservative hopeful for Spen Valley, dropped out for worrying reasons that have come to light.
Gregg’s Alleged Underage Nightclub
Reports have suggested that Gregg was allowing an underage nightclub to be run with his knowledge, but the story doesn’t end there.
Gregg’s Concerning Behaviour
Girls in the nightclub were allegedly as young as 13, while photos also showed Gregg with girls that had explicit language written across their chests.
Tory Party Issues Statement
The Tory Party issued a conflicting statement regarding the first candidate, McIvor, claiming that “Jaymey McIvor has been suspended by the party pending the outcome of an investigation.”
Conflicting Statement From Former Candidate
When compared to McIvor’s statement, the two don’t add up, “I am sad to confirm that I am no longer the candidate for the Hemel Hempstead constituency. This is for personal reasons,” he said.
Gregg Issues Statement on Child Photos
We are not aware of the details of McIvor’s case, although Gregg’s case is serious. Gregg issued an equally concerning statement about the inappropriate photos of children.
Downplaying Child Exploitation
The 42-year-old posted the photos on social media and recently claimed that the photos were a reflection of the time when he posted them.

Gregg claimed that “events were of their time and I can understand how they could be viewed differently in today’s world.”

McIvor and Gregg are now among a long list of Tory MPs who have either resigned, been suspended, or defected to another Party.

Shadow Paymaster General Jonathan Ashworth accused the Tories of having several candidates involved in inappropriate practices

Ashworth claimed, “Another day, another Tory candidate is exposed… This adds to growing concerns about the calibre of candidates Rishi Sunak has been forced to select.”
